Gaelbhratach
Gaelbhratach is a scheme which supports and encourages schools in their efforts to promote the Irish language. The scheme is open to schools of all type at both primary and secondary level. Schools are awarded the Gaelbhratach upon successful completion of a variety of targets. The targets relate to music, art, sport, the organisation of and participation in events and much more. The primary aim of the scheme is to create and encourage a culture of speaking Irish informally within the school community and beyond.
The scheme is operated and coordinated by Gael Linn with support from Conradh na Gaeilge and Glór na nGael.
Gaelbhratach is funded by Foras na Gaeilge.

The benefits of this scheme are evident in the school, particularly with the children who’ve begun with us since its implementation. The attitude towards Irish has greatly improved overall.

There has been a very positive reaction to the gaelbhratach scheme. It has given a focus and a reason for speaking and learning Irish. There is a sense of togetherness and fun in working towards the Gaelbhratach. Because of the committee, the children feel a great sense of ownership of the effort and are showing leadership skills .
